Here we are, about one month into the quarantine, settling into this new temporary reality. When it first started, one of the biggest challenges my wife and I had was to find a way to keep our daughters busy. It also wouldn’t hurt them to learn a thing or two we might not otherwise have the chance to teach them.
They’ve always enjoyed working with tools (to the extent we would allow it) and we also had some spare wood in the garage from a deck project at the house. So we all agreed to head out and see what we could make from it. At the same time, the family had been talking about getting a pet, and we all agreed on a bunny. It didn’t take long for us to agree to design and build a house for our bunny, even if we didn’t have it yet.
Now just to be clear, I don’t know how bunnies live, so this was more or less a fun structure to create while spending time with my daughters and teaching them about design, software, measuring, cutting, fastening, and efficient use of material. I’d love to see someone remix it! At the end of the post I have a list of ideas and variations to this design you could make.

Make it smaller for birds
Make it larger for dogs
Make it much larger for a shed
Use a corrugated metal siding/roofing instead of cedar
Increase the roof slope
Remove the wheels and base
Put doors and windows on it
Enclose the ends and hinge the roof, for a storage bin on wheels
